Saw a posting this morning and verified it on their web page.

2-8-0 18 is passed inspection and back in service as of August 24, scheduling run, see their calendar, current schedule 'looks like' weekends 11and 2 at Arcade, NY

I have a special spot for the A&A, as 18 was the very first steam locomotive I ever rode behind as a kid. And as a teenager, A&A 14 (the 4-6-0) was home to multiple cab rides, and 'sealed the deal' when my date wanted to ride along. Ended up marrying her!

As a New Yorker, I'm very excited to see this, since the #18 is the only large steam locomotive operational in New York, and it doesn't seem like that fact will be changing any time soon. I've been having to go to PA to get my steam fix, and Arcade is a couple hours closer.

And... it's not now. See their Facebook page. No explanation, just refunds.

I'm suspecting that it's something with maintenance, as it would too soon to have the locomotive running excursions just mere days after returning to service. There's usually a couple of test runs and other minor repairs before any locomotive returns to service

The Railroad's GM posted in a comment on Facebook: "We do not know exactly what happened as of tonight. All we know is we will not be running next weekend. It was not a track issue or anything anyone did wrong."

Sounds like they knew something went wrong, but need to let the engine cool down to assess what it specifically was. I'm sure they'll tell us what it was once they figure it out.

I have a soft spot for the A&A too. That locomotive was the first steam train I ever rode as a kid, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. And A&A 14 was where I got to take some unforgettable cab rides – including one with a date who turned into my wife! I'll have to look up the schedule and see if I can catch a ride on one of those weekends.
