At its annual conference in Springdale, Arkansas, hosted by the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad, the HeritageRail Alliance presented the annual Significant Achievement Awards. They recognize achievements in the last 12 months. Steam British Columbia Forest Discovery Centre, restoration of Hillcrest Lumber narrow gauge Shay #1 (Lima 1920) Diesel Southern California Ry Museum, restoration of Santa Fe H12-44 #560 (Fairbanks Morse 1957) Traction Illinois Railway Museum, restoration of Illinois Terminal wire car #1702 (IT Decatur Shops 1922) Passenger car Norfolk & Western business car #300 Preservation Society, restoration of Norfolk & Western business car #300 (Pullman 1917, modernized 1955) Freight car No award given Non-revenue car Georgia State Railroad Museum, restoration of Central of Georgia caboose #X5 and Central of Georgia/Wrightsville & Tennille caboose #X59 Infrastructure Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, construction of the Welcome & Education Center and Volunteer Boulevard Archives/scholarship Chicago & North Western Historical Society and Illinois Railway Museum, construction of the Chicago & North Western Historical Society archive building Lifetime Achievement Scott Becker, for his service to railway preservation at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, Pennsylvania Trolley Museum and on the Boards of ARM and HRA. Alan Maples, owner of the Everett Railroad for creating its steam powered tourist train, and serving on the Board of Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum William Purdie Award for Youth involvement Pennsylvania Trolley Museum National Capital Trolley Museum Friend of Railway Preservation Friends of Philadelphia Trolleys, for financial support for restorations of Philadelphia trolleys at multiple museums Up in Smoke Foundation, for significant financial support for Railroading Heritage of Midwest America’s Silvis Shops. Jim Wrinn Award for the Biggest Preservation Story of the Year CPKC steam program from Canada to Mexico |
