Post subject:  RR MU Penn Roundhouse?

In an earlier post about the where abouts of a GG1, it was mentioned about it being moved to clear the way for the construction of a Roundhouse. Could someone share what's going on?

Curious minds want to know!

Thanks,

Smokebox--

This Web page will give you the background to the project.

Mind, a lot has changed at Altoona since the last time this page was updated, inlcuding completely new management. However, AFAIK the roundhouse project is still being moved forward. If you'd like to contact the current Altoona management folks directly, email me back channel and I'll put you in touch.

I am a member of the Friends of the RR Museum of PA and a recent editorial by the President of Friends in the MILEPOST proposed such a building. The idea is to get the rest of the cars out in the yard under cover; this time in a roundhouse structure. God alone knows how long it may take to raise the money to build the thing! But it is a great idea! Ted Miles
