Recent news regarding Soo Line 2425. It has been acquired by the Big South Fork Scenic and has been moved to Ravenna to undergo restoration

Good luck indeed. Amusingly, the post with that photo says “good mechanical condition, good candidate for restoration”

Besides cosmetic deterioration what is wrong with it? Boiler is off frame, one less thing to consider during restoration and the cosmetics mean nothing. So those in the "know" what is wrong with it? Need a firebox? Full running gear restoration? I know it looks rough but so what. Everything will be looked at during the 1472 like any park engine will need after sitting for 70 plus years. Just asking?
