Scott, Would you please help squelch a rumor I've been hearing...is it true the feds have a mechanic's lien on 1361? It seems absurd because you are fixing the engine with state money with your own staff and my understanding is that Steamtown staff have been assisting the project on a consulting basis. If they have a mechanics lien on the loco, I am unaware of it and neither is Kip Hagen, the park superintendent at Steamtown. We just met 2 weks ago and briefly discussed the project and he made no mention of it to me. The restoration is continuing with a Transporation Enhancement grant which is Federal money administered through Penndot. Sole source justification was submitted and approved for Bill frederickson and Barry Claar to sontinue as the supervisors on the project as well as the 3 full-time employees the Museum has assigned to the project. Keep up the good work, Scott. Jeff, 1361 will be back in steam when she is ready--it's hard putting timetables on return dates to service. She'll be ready when it is time. Thanks for the info,I wish there would be more prr steamers put into operation again,I only got into steamers about 4 years ago and from vidoes I have seen,I really missed out on alot of them but thankfully there are steam engines still running today. steamtrain90@aol.com |
