Post subject:  X-Cart Premiers at the WW&F

Today, 7/23/2025, we ran our self-designed and volunteer-built "X-Cart" for the first time! This will allow the museum to automate much of our track work, including changing ties, ditching, brush removal, and phone line maintenance.

That is a neat piece of equipment!

Run with a remote control? How complicated is the remote?

Also are the vertical posts on each corner outriggers?

Yes, there is a remote control that activates the levers on the rear of the cart. We were all impressed to see the levers move on their own from the operator's pack. It seems easy enough to operate, as those who tried it (not me) were able to quickly get the hang of it.

Yes. Definitely a requirement for stability on 2ft tracks.
