Post subject:	"NY State's 40&8 Boxcar To Be Moved"
As many here likely know, in 1949 France gifted 49 "40&8" boxcars to the USA in appreciation of American aid during the World Wars. The cars held either 40 men or 8 horses. A boxcar went to each state and the District of Columbia. New York's boxcar has been at an American Legion/Voiture post in Oneida County for many years, perhaps from 1949. The property is now for sale and the County is assisting in efforts to find a new home for this "40&8." WESP - This is the site I use to look these up. They list by state. One car for DC and Hawaii as both were not states at the time but they contributed to the supply train that was sent to France after the war. http://mercitrain.org/
