| Post subject: | Chessie Steam Special Operations question |
I have been building a Chessie Steam Special model (n scale) and have a operations question I'm thinking someone here might have a answer. The Train Theme website lists a power car, PC-100, and describes this car as providing power for the train consist. Most videos of the train on youtube do not show this car on the train. The Train Theme website for the Chessie Safety Express suggests this car was only used to provide electricity when the train was moving between trips. Can anyone confirm this? If this is the case, when the public excursions were run, there wasn't any power on the train? Or was the power provided by each car? Thanks, Bob |

This video shows it in the consist and states it's from 1978. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIBEGvXYo48 This one from 1977 doesn't seem to show it. | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGnmh2ZffCs I think most of the cars were powered by axle generators and batteries like in the old day. HEP wasn't common back then. |
