1243-Iceberg Lake: Bob Moen, Lawrence, KS. Stored Minneapolis area. (See thread below).
1244-White Pines Lake: Arvid Benson, Moorehead, MN. For Sale. Believed to be stored on isolated track.
1245-Whitefish Lake: NCRRA. Stored Willits, CA. For sale.

>White Pines Lake was sold by Arvid Benson in the early 1980's to a fellow who stored it in Maine. I believe it is stored at a museum in Maine and it is currently for sale. It did not go to Amtrak. I hope someone will come forward and purchase this car and the Whitefish Lake. They are really cool cars inside and worthy of preservation.

GN Ranch Cars #1240-#1245:

Built by AC&F in Lot #3445 for the Mid-Century Empire Builder. Equipped with disc brakes. 14 seat counter, 12 seat dinette, 18 seat lounge.

GN #1240 "Crossley Lake": wrecked at unknown date and scrapped by BN in 1971.

GN #1241 "Running Crane Lake": to Amtrak #8150. Retired 7/1981. To Nicolet Badger Northern in Laona, WI. To Golden State Limited-Silver Iris in Verdi, NV. To Dr. Louis Steplock as WPRX #1241 for lease service on the Willamette & Pacific Railroad.

GN #1242 "Hidden Lake": to Amtrak #8151. Retired 7/1981. To Sierra Western Railroad Company as SW #151 and painted in Daylight colors for use on Eureka Southern excursions on the Northwestern Pacific. After the NWP washouts and end of operations, car stored in Asti, CA, along with Daylight-painted SW #156 (ex-GN diner #1156 "Lake Pepin"; nee-SLSF #650 "Alexander Doniphan").

CB&Q #1243 "Iceberg Lake": transferred from GN to CB&Q ownership in 1953 as part of the mileage adjustment. To Amtrak #8152. Retired 5/1976. To private owner as CBRX #1243. Currently at the Mad River & Nickel Plate Historical Society in Bellevue, OH.

GN #1244 "White Pines Lake": to Arvid Benson. To Ralph Day-Biddeford Station. To Barry Fromm-Depot Conference Center in Columbus, OH.

GN #1245 "Whitefish Lake": to Amtrak #8153. Retired 7/1981. To Sierra Western RR Co. as SW #153. Unlike the #1242 "Hidden Lake" and diner #1156 "Lake Pepin," the #1245 was never repainted to Daylight colors for use on the Eureka Sou. excursions. My guess is that it served as a parts source for the #1242 and possibly the #1156. It is now part of the collection of the Roots of Motive Power Museum in Willits, CA, still in faded Amtrak Phase I paint.
