Nice page on the Southern Pacific "Suntan Specials", passenger trains that ran from San Francisco to Santa Cruz. Excursions took passengers to the famous Santa Cruz boardwalk, said to be the last seaside amusement park left on the West Coast.

Most of these scenes could be re-created. The old amusement park is still going strong, the track is still in use and plenty of SP steam and commuter coaches still exist.

Post subject:  and waiting at Watsonville...

And waiting at Watsonville Jct in the early 1950s is 4-8-4 4449, looking a bit faded. The big engine will take over for the 2-8-0s when they return from Santa Cruz.
