Post subject:  Ford V8 Chain Drive 2-6-0 - Thinking BACK ?
All,

Having seen the photo viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28878, anyone here Happen to know of its As Built 2- 6-0 Appearance are there any photos of it in their collection as a MOGUL. The thing here Mr. Tom Sink never caught the the PILOT WHEEL in his photo he shows it as a a ford v-8 -0-6-0 .

Hi
Besides the locomotive that is talked about in this post others also have been converted to a similar drive with either a Gas or Diesel engine for power..
How about logging locomotives,, Shays, Heisler , or Climax locomotive have been converted from Steam to either Gas or Diesel powered by there owners..
The amount is very small,, because you don't often hear about them,, there might be a few more pieces of conventional Rod locomotives that have engines in there tenders,, for power.. if you dig enough via the internet something should surface.

The one that gets the award from me is Mutual Plywood #54, or M-62, whatever, that is the diesel conversion of a two-truck Heisler.

As a Heisler fan, the first time I ever saw it for myself stored in Blue Lake, CA about 2000, I christened it the "Jesus Chrysler....".

It's been moved to the Samoa, CA shops for Timber Heritage, primed, and 'under restoration'....

There's several more geared locomotives that got converted to internal combusion, but that gets some kind of participation trophy for the Ugly as Sin competition.

Not sure this counts, but remember the locomotive that was out at Stone Mountain, GA? Dead on its own wheels, being pushed around by an SW-something built into a "boxcar" behind it, with an air hose running over the tender to blow the whistle in the steam locomotive cab, and somehow, controls moved up to the steam engine cab. Pretty sure 1982, just before disposition. I distinctly remember the racket coming out of the side rods, the bearings must have been just shot.
