With this morning's announcement that the "American Rail Bike Adventures" company will once again be hosting railbike trips on the Stewartstown Railroad (in it's namesake Pennsylvania town) this summer - I figured it might be good to get a thorough list going of where there are railbike operations. There used to be only one or two operators, now they're springing up everywhere like daisies.

Feel free to add more on!

Catskills Division - Phonecia, NY: (former) Catskill Mountain Railroad
Rhode Island Division - Portsmouth, RI: Newport and Narragansett Bay Railroad
Elk River Division - Clay, WV: Elk River Railroad (inactive, former Buffalo Creek & Gauley)

The Revolution Rail operation is out of North Creek and Hadley and is on the former D&H Adirondack Branch (last Saratoga North Creek), not the Adirondack Scenic Railroad (now Adirondack Railroad).

The Adirondack Railroad operates railbikes as Adirondack Scenic Railbikes (I know confusing) out of Thendara NY both north and south and plan to brings bikes (and trains) to Tupper Lake by the end of the summer.

Ugh and of course I knew about those two and completely forgot about them - I've updated the listings above!

Only a small percentage of the FEGUA system still exists, mostly in Guatemala City, but the museum there has several Buda "bicicletas de via" (track bicycles) which can be ridden by visitors.

In Colombia, there are many stretches of abandoned track left over from the FCN, which the locals use for their own purposes. The vehicle of choice is called a "rodillo", which is a sort of cross between a motorcar trailer and a motorcycle. The motorcycle part is detachable so it can be used in the conventional manner.

Neither of these operations are marketed in the USA.

For many years, and perhaps one of the most consistent pedal rail locations, is on the Joseph Branch out to Joseph OR. This is a few miles beyond a popular dinner train out of Elgin on the same route.

One that I had not heard of before is on a line that is associated in some form with the new logging museum in Shelton, WA. This is the Vance Creek Railriders. I do not see what connection they may have with the museum operation.

Thanks to those last couple of people that posted, and a separate email, I've updated the list once again!

It's been a hot minute, and I know of some more locations that host rail biking now (and some that don't). So, I've updated my original list at the top of the post as best as I can. Does anyone have operations near them, or know of others, that aren't on my list? Post a reply! Let's get some more people out and rail biking!

Saw this in a news item about the McCloud Railway restarting operations: https://railfan.com/mccloud-railway-on- ... r-revival/

"The McCloud Railway, one of California’s most famous short lines that has been closed for 16 years, is reopening. On August 4, the short line announced that it would soon resume operations, and sources close to the effort tell Railfan & Railroad that they hope to begin offering rail bike rides later this year and diesel-powered excursions in 2027."
