Interestingly, VIA Rail Canada just ordered 25 new dome cars from Alstom, as part of a 313 car order. I believe that they will be the first new dome cars in 70 or so years. They are also ordering 38 "panorama" cars, which are similar to a Superliner lounge but single-level. https://www.trains.com/pro/passenger/al ... lion-deal/ Dome cars aren't practical in the USA anymore due to the ADA, other than on heritage lines, the same reason that Amtrak's Superliners are being phased out, to be replaced with single-level cars.
