0-6-0T X90 on the table at Shoreham roundhouse in Minneapolis. X90 reacquired a tender some years ago and is on display in Wisconsin. Anyone know what the status of the Shoreham shops is today? I heard the same thing, I think it was reinstalled at Mason City. As to the current status of the shops, I think only one of the warehouses still stand, some yard offices and of course the roundhouse. I believe the roundhouse is leased by a trucking companys and used as a warehouse. There have been numerous redevelopment plans thrown about by CP (a la Como Shops) but once the new shops were built in Pigs Eye, they threw in the towel on redeveloping the old buildings and apllied for a demolition permit for everything but the intermodel facility. Appearently they were eyeing to make an industrial or office park of most of the land once an eviornment cleanup was complete. But Minneapolis and the suburb of Columbia Hieghts (on whose border Shoreham is locating on) jump in and ad hoc citizens groups are trying to save at least the roundhouse for redevelop and/or historic site purposes. As I least heard, the city was negociating with a reluctant CPR to aquire the property. This is all from memory and I'll try and contact people closer to the situation. |
