Looks like Thomas missed the boat back to Sodor and is hiding under a blanket at Durango. Also note the cocooned passenger car.

I believe the HIT men require Thomas to be covered at all times when not actually in use, so that no one can take unauthorized pictures. Gotta protect that franchise.

I think Sir Topin Hat put Thomas in "time out" for starting brush fires last year..

What are the new form 4 requirements doing to the real steam Thomas ex BEDT? Does he still have tube time to run on?

Thomas was retubed in 1999 with all of the current 1472 day inspection requirements fulfilled, even though the new Part 230 was not yet law. When it did become law, Thomas was one of the first engines grandfathered into the new system, and is now good until 2014.

Not likely, since, as a dummy unit, Thomas is always towed.

There are a total of SIX Thomases right now. The Strasburg "real thing", three pushable dummies in standard gauge, one pushable dummy in 3' narrow gauge, and one pushable dummy in 2' narrow gauge.

Does the "original" standard guage Thomas the Tank Engine still exist? It was a diesel powered 0-6-0 based in Green Bay ,WI, and appeared at RailFail 1999 in Sacramento. This Thomas first toured at Steamtown NHS in 1997-98, and had to be under a blue tarp in the roundhouse for nearly 6 months.

I believe history has claimed the "first" Thomas. I think the Green Bay folks "de-Thomasized" that little diesel. From what I heard it was so unreliable (not to mention tiny in stature) that it basically knocked itself out of a job. BTW: It DID tour in 1999 separately with Strasburg's Porter before being retired.
