Do these buildings still exist? I know the RR is dormant, but wonder if things are being scrapped out or just left in place? This was one of the last operating steam sites, quitting in 1968. http://algomacentral.railfan.net/images/DesertRails/marr_9_3.jpg ryarger@rypn.org |

As far as I know the buildings are still intact but very dormant. The #10 Baldwin DRS-6-6-1500, ex-McCloud River #29) left shortly before the railroad shut down and is now on display at the Arizona Transportation Museum in Chandler (I think), AZ. The #8 (ex-Medford Corporation #8) is back home in Oregon, owned by the Southern Oregon Chapter of the NRHS and currently stored in White City, OR. The #9 (S-8, ex-McCloud River #31) is still stored in or around these buildings. For the last several years the railroad actually operated with RS-3's borrowed from the San Manuel Arizona Railroad. jamoore@elko.net |
