| Post subject: | Surviving Lehigh Valley Locomotives. |
Hello, I have just started a web page where I am going to attempt to track the current status of every surviving LVRR locomotive! I have done quite well in only a few days, but I have pretty much exausted the capabilities of google, and now I need help tracking down other engines.. The GP38-2s are well accounted for, all of them are still running on CP, (havent finished that section on the page yet.) The GP38AC's are probably all on NS..looking for conformation on that.. Im missing 2 of the Alco C420s..no one seems to know where they are.. and the big question right now is, where are all the U-Boats?! I cant account for a single one of the 12 U23Bs.. So if anyone has ANY info on any survivng LV stuff..(not only locomotives! anything..) I would appreciate it! thanks, Scot LVRR surviving locomotives sscotsman@yahoo.com |

SW-1 # 119 dead @ the steel mill in Lorain Ohio. still has LV paint showing through ugly steel mill green. I REALLY WANT this Locomotive. Havn't had the time to get to that end of the mill(my shop is at the other end) and deal with the idiots that own it. irss@eriecoast.com |

SW1 114 (EMD 1021 2-1940) went to the Maryland Port Administration, then to the Ocean City Western excursion operation in Maryland in 1973 or 1974. It finally ended up at the Wilmington & Western RR in the mid-1980s and continues in service today on that line as W&W 114. Too bad I don't have two LV two-bay coal hoppers to add to your list; I had two earmarked for preservation at a PP&L power plant in central Pa. in the late 1980s, but the scrapper started on the wrong end of the siding by mistake. <:-( lner4472@bcpl.net |

It is presently parked in the rear of the Beech Grove shops and is sitting on shop trucks. This is one of the dynamic brake equipped units, that I believe was used in m.u configuration on one of LV's coal branches. It was one of four Conrail switchers that Amtrak received in trade for a couple of E units that eventually pulled the Conrail office car train and are now owned by Mr. Levin (?). I distinctly remember the day they were delivered by Conrail to Amtrak at 16th Street in Chicago. One was LV red and the other three were in black or blue. Sort of looked like a big bruise. Anyway, they became Amtrak 747-750, as I recall. The LV unit still had her louvers and dynamic brake fan located just ahead of the cab.
