I didn't know my identity was so interesting.
Now the question is.. did I hear that myself or did I get an email from a fellow traveler?

If this is that Superheater, I would be surprised. Also, he isn't a member of the Washington DC Chapter and hasn't renewed his dues in the Potomac Chapter, NRHS. We haven't even seen him in 6 months, but I would be extremely surprised if he had the where-with-all to do something like this.

*Eh, you just make it an interesting guessing game, that's all.

*Okay, valid point. Besides, the knowledgeable rail preservation experts whom I happen to know reside in the WHP 580 listening area all post to this board under their real names. (Hmmm, what about........... naah, he moved to Pennsylvania, all right, but he wouldn't know quite THAT much........ maybe it's.... nah, probably too old to own a computer...... hmmmm.......)

Alexander, I'd love to post under my real name, except:

I currently work as a Commonwealth of PA auditor (outside anything rail or preservation related). That might seem to be a simple matter, given that COPA has 6 Comptrollers audit staffs, the Bureau of Audits and the Auditor General. However, the staff tends to be nomadic.

Bottom line is I could be in the position of participating in an audit of a lot organizations employing folks who read/post here someday. That could include the museums that are state operated (Railroad Museum of Pa.- Kurt Bell) or actual/potential grantees such as Altoona (Scott Cessna) or actual/potential recipients of mass transit grants (D-L, Dave Crosby, R&N, Steve Gilbert). I don't want to preclude that I might be in the PennDot or Public Protection & Recreation shops someday.

So with a pseudonym, I get to run with the throttle out to the peg, give my opinion (as if it matters) without worrying who I might have to deal with 5 or 10 years from now.

As for being an "expert"-hardly. I understand money and organizational issues -the rest is purely a hobbyist's speculation.

LOL, GE13031 and I were talking about the fact that you were someone(superheater) with something to protect, and not the run of the mill idiot, Well I guess we were correct. BTW the only reason Dennis uses GE13031 is that is the serial # of his GE locomotive. If you go back to the who's here post and several others you will find he has alot to offer but enjoys useing the serial# handle.
One other note he and his brother Richard Saved LSE 167 and NKP 54 before saving was a good thing.Hopfully someone besides me will realize the importance of what they did.

Yep, I'm from the government and I'm here to help you.. huh.. run of the mill, indeed.

I prefer to think of it as preserving my independence and observing the 2nd general standard.

Not only on the radio, but the local Lancaster tv station carried a story on Monday night. The interview featured images of "denuded" smokebox covers of 90 and 475 and even showed Linn Moedinger reading Jeff Slupski's posting on his office computer (read it further down in this thread)--so even Rypn made it to air!

Well, my first theory was that you were Dick Cheney, and posting to RYPN is what you did while holed up in your "undisclosed location."

That one tickled me, so I never bothered to guess at another.

Rob

PS: Speaking of undisclosed locations... I found out recently that a good part of Camp David (yes, the Camp David) occupies land the government "acquired" from one of my relatives, a great uncle who worked on the PRR. Never thought of Camp David having railroad connections.

Funny, I also found out too late that one of his sister-in-laws actually owned a small PRR depot that was on her land near Chambersburg. I got down there too late to buy it from her myself, though it supposedly sits on a new foudnation as a shed somewhere out near Caledonia.

No hardly. A downside of being a government employee is you check a few things at the door. Holding public or party office is among them.

Do you know if this depot was built by the PRR or was built before 1918 when the railroad was the Cumberland Valley?
