| Post subject: | Where are I.C.C. Steam Locomotive Records? |
Where might one find retired ICC steam locomotive records? (i.e. old cab cards, Form 4's, railroad/government correspondence, inspection data, etc.)Is this stuff at the National Archives, or still in possession of the FRA? Also, am I to correctly assume that all post-1967 steam records are in FRA hands (1967 is the year the FRA was created)? |

FRA has some of the records, but most were dumped decades ago, since the overwhelming majority of the locomotives it pertained to were scrapped. Some may have made it to the NA, but probably not much. |

I'm checking with another ICC retiree (my former boss) to see what was transferred to the Archives. Some of the steam-era records may have made to the Archives when they left the ICC building. If so, I may be able to find a contact. I have one for the ICC valuation maps and engineering reports, but nothing on locomotives. Be back if I find anything. |
