Am seeking any information that may be available on what appears to be an unfinished, or, constructed but never used grade into former Berlin Heights, Ohio sandstone quarrys. Area is presently known as Edison Woods metropark of Erie County. Grade appears to have been planned as means for LSE to gain access to quarrys from it's line from Ceylon Junction, Ohio to Norwalk, Ohio, through Berlin Heights. All physical appearances are characteristic of railroad or raulway grade. However, have been unsuccessful as yet in finding any proof positive. Would greatly appreciate any assistance. In return, offer my knowledge of railroad and interurban collection to those who may have questions. Thank you JTRails@aol.com |

Thank you A quick look at the maps from the below link, shows a branch runing from the Lake Shore & Michigan to what appears to be a quarry just northwest of Berlin Hieghts. The map dates from 1932. Vermillion Quad SW and NW. Hope this helps. http://railsandtrails.com/usgs1900/oh/ downdrikson@bright.net |
