Up until about 10 years ago there was a guy in Colombus that had a large junkyard (really a junkyard, not a museum) with all kinds of military stuff and a couple of steam locomotives. I think he died and the stuff was all sold off as the property is cleared and everything is gone. Does anyone know what happened to the steamers?
Happy Holidays,
Tom Gears
Save reaching for your Conrad directories, folks: He's referring to US Navy #3, a 1918 Cooke 0-4-0T sold to Mahalcick Salvage in Columbus. Conrad has it listed as being on display in scrapyard along US 206 south of town.
I've never seen it. Any updates? The Conrad is 11 years old by now.....
I was up there looking for them and a local told me the owner died and everything is gone. They scrapyard has been cleared and nothing is left. The local told me they went to a museum but did not know which one.
Tom Gears
