> Thought this link would be of interest... It is very interesting, especially the part where the "author" says this building would make a great Cub Scout project. This is an historic structure, not a bird house. The articles say it is in the downtown? of Pittstown. I guess it's a very rural part of New Jersey. ... my 2 cents. mustang746@earthlink.net |

Hi Tim, Pittstown is still rather rural, although the landscape is being consumed by McMansions at an alarming rate. The town was at the end of a short LV branch, and the town center still boasts several historic buildings, including a mill that is a good restaurant. Unfortunately, the station has languished in this condition for years. I am glad to see anyone take interest. My first restoration project was an outbuilding from an 1870's estate at the shore. It was moved and restored as part of a Boy Scout project. I was not a scout, I was a volunteer from the museum that sponsored it. We worked with one adult preservation specialist. Two 17 year olds and one 35 year old did a decent job. With the right adult supervision, I'd bet the scouts could restore the depot and get a nice club house out of it. Hope all is well with you.
