Post subject: Update on WW&F #10 Winter Shop Work
PostPosted: Fri Feb 28, 2003 8:01 am

Just thought I would update everybody on the work WW&F #10 (ex Edaville #5) has been undergoing this winter.

As of the end of February, the locomotive has been completely disassembled down to the bare frame. Drive wheels are off site being turned. Springs are off site being fixed. The cylinders were taken off site for boring, but have returned. Eccentric gear is also being worked on off site.

It was found that the frame was 1/8" out of horizontal alignment, so that is being worked on to align it correctly. The frame also had some vertical alignment and bowing issues, for which a brace was built which will be put right after the front drivers.

All weld has been removed (Edaville really loved weld) and anything attached previously by weld we will try to attach by bolts.

The rear truck was disassembled and the side castings fell apart. New, beefier castings have been made and are being machined. Rear wheels will be turned.

Things should start coming back together in March. We still hope to have the engine completely reassembled in mid-June.
