Los Angeles "Must See" Suggestions?

I just found out I will be traveling to Los Angeles for work next week. While the weekdays will be full I did manage to set Sunday afternoon aside for some siteseeing.

Any recommendations? I will be leaving LAX about noon and this is my first time in town. I was thinking about going to OERM but am not sure if I have enough time?

The Southern California chapter of the R&LHS has an impressive collection of (non-operating) steam locomotives at the L.A. County Fairgrounds in nearby Pomona. The collection includes UP Big Boy #4014, UP 4-12-2 #9000, AT&SF Hudson #3450, an SP 4-10-2, a UP Centennial, and some smaller steamers as well. The exhibit is only open the second weekend of each month (which would be Feb 8-9) from 10 am to 3 pm. I will be in So Cal from Salt Lake City that weekend and am going to try and visit their collection.

Orange Empire is located in Perris, in Riverside County, about 75 miles easterly from downtown LA or 100 miles from LAX. You should be able to get directions and miliage and approximate times from MapQuest or Rand McNally websites. Enter the museum's address of 2201 South "A" Street in Perris. After arriving, to ride the cars and whatever we have on the "main line" and take a quick walk around will take about two hours. Longer if you want to look around more. We have more than 200 rail vehicles.

See San Pedro: LA & LB Harbor Train Yards, Port of Los Angeles Red Car Works (see Railway Preservation Resources), Alameda Corridor. Then to Long Beach: Take the Blue Line (Light Rail) to LAUS (eat a french dip sandwich at Phillippe's) and back.
Griffith Park in Los Angeles has: Travel Town and The Los Angeles Live Steamers (open Sundays only)
Try to make it to a Original Tommy's hamburger joint (13 So Cal locations) for a double-cheeseburger. There is nothing like it!!!
Fullerton Amtrak Station (ex-SF)is one of the nation's 20 busiest. There is a restored UP Depot next door and Il Giotto, in a former Pacific Electric station is across the parking lot. If you get to Fullerton, I am in the book. Give us a call. You can reach Fullerton from LAUS via Metrolink weekdays and Amtrak anytime.
