Dear Friends of the B&O Railroad Museum:

Our team of engineers continues to work daily to complete the stabilization effort of the Roundhouse and remove debris. Weather conditions continue to impact on these efforts.

The windows of the clerestory and cupola were removed to assist in the building stabilization in case of high winds. The B&O #C2222 Red Wooden Caboose was successfully removed from the Roundhouse. Condition reports have not been completed at this time....

Thank you for your continued support as The B&O Railroad Museum remains closed until further notice.

Note: images showing the removal of C2222 are available at the Museum's update page linked below.

With minimal damage to the #11, would she be able to be used for moving around equipment, or for equipment extraction from the roundhouse?

Sure, in theory, but since she needs new FRA glazing I'm sure they'll use the SW-900, GP-30, WM F unit, or anything else that's operable and convenient and pointed the right direction and on the right track, etc. No urgant need to get her running, they have plenty of power to switch with.

Is there an alternate place where all these pieces can be stored under cover while restoration work continues on the roundhouse?

The only other covered storage is the carshop, which can take about 20 40' equivalent units. Of course, it is usually completely full with other valuable artifacts.

If I read Mr. Harwoods post below correctly, the plan may be to tarp and cocoon most of what's in the roundhouse, reconstruct the building around it, and then get to work on restoring individual items of rolling stock. This actually makes a lot of sense given the configuration and limits of their plant.
