Post subject:  Unknown Geared Locomotive *PIC*

I found the below photo of a geared locomotive, and I've never seen anything like it. Who was the builder? Are there any preserved?

That is a Baldwin "Shay" type geared locomotive; the only one of it's kind built. It was not perserved.

Baldwin also built four "Climax" type geared locomotives. With the exception of their rack engines, these were the only geared locomotives built by Baldwin. It is not known why they were not able to break into the geared steam market being served by Lima, Climax, and Heisler.
