Someone on TrainOrders wants to know what part of a steam loco this thing (shown on a lathe, for whatever reason) might be. Any guesses here among the intelligensa? ![]() lner4472@bcpl.net |

It's a brake beam from the foundation brake rigging. They have welded up the worn ends and the holes for the brake rods. They are now turning the ends, and afterward they will redrill the pin holes for the brake rods. rick@strasburgrailroad.com |

Also by placing the Brake beam between two centers then the ends can be checked to make sure that they are not bent, as they seem to get after time. |
