"Flimsies" has an eye-opening look at the B&O Museum's executive director, Courtney Wilson, which appears in today's Baltimore Sun. Interestingly, it even includes comments (not necessarily flattering ones) from past director John Hankey. Interestingly, the article notes that, even though the Museum is closed indefinitely and no income is coming in from the gate, all paid staffers remain employed in one form or another. A fairly well-placed source told me at a meeting last night that, contrary to allegations posted here and elsewhere, the Museum AND its contents are FULLY insured--which I take to include repairs to the contents. That is what I was told by Courtney, the Director, when I interviewed him. He said, to be precise, that the Museum had insurance for the Roundhouse and its contents, separate insurance for the collections, and interruption of business insurance among other coverages. Of course, all carry various exclusions and deductibles. I don't remember anything to the contrary being posted by anyone on the Interchange, through like Sandy I have seen it said in print elsewhere that the collections were not insured.
