I know a little about some of this, but I am no expert. Hopefully Kurt Bell or Kelley Anderson will add their insights. Anything they say are much more reliable than anything I say because I am just a railfan, and they are experts.

On another note, Strasburg (0 is the subject of an entire article and test drive in April's ROAD AND TRACK

Strasburg will continue to operate as it always has. We upgrade something every year. The parlor car service was upgraded last year and has proven to be our fastest growing accommodation. There is a possibility that half of the lounge car will be converted to parlor service next year with original-style swivel seats. This year we hope to have self-guided tours of selected equipment such as the snow plow, available to people who tour the Reading business car. We will have the pump car in operation this year as well. Additionally we have the "Noon Shop Tour" which has proven to be popular.

Many of our resources are being put into customer service areas and ancillary activities to enhance the overall experience of the average customer.

We are cautiously optimistic that the Paradise station will be built by summer 2004. If we have the funds it is hoped that we will have turntables at each end of the line. There is the possibility of a roundhouse in the future.

Unfortunately it all comes down to funding. We have a number of packages available this year and with some there are value-added components such as the pump car and the Reading car. Otherwise we have the pay-as-you-go options. We hope this will increase revenue. Thomas has been very helpful in supporting our regular operation.

The current new project in the car shop is the Western Maryland coach which we hope will be completed by the end of the year.

I have to ask if they are still doing the tongue-in-check April issue road tests? I remember from years and years ago that they did a SF cable car (what an acceleration curve), a London double deck bus (just the thing for a family of 76), the Flying Scottsman, and an MCI bus.

Also the Saturn V launch vehicle (the creeper that takes the rockets to the pad upright), a NYC garbage truck, and a mechanical, full-sized elephant robot, as I recall.........
