Post subject: Tennessee Central caboose in the woods
PostPosted: Thu Mar 20, 2003 10:46 pm

I blundered up on a Tennessee Central wooden caboose along US 70 in Mayland, Tennessee (near Crossville) a couple of weeks ago. It was moved in from a position farther back in the woods to be a display at a new restaurant in the former TC Mayland station. The Mayland station had been a mile or two west of where it is now, then had recently been moved over to Monterey, Tennessee as an antique store. The cab is in pretty good shape for a wooden car, but is unrestored. I don't know where it has been, but at one time there was a TC cab on a farm in Mud Creek, and another one on Music Square in Nashville. These days there is a steel TC cab at the depot in Cookeville, now being kept company with the L&A ten-wheeler from TVRM in Chatanooga, soon to be painted up as a Tennessee Central 4-6-0.

Anybody know if there is any more TC equipment out there, other than the 102 in Nashville?
