Recently, The Great Northern Obsevation Car "Litchfield" was offered in an auction on Ebay. The car didn't sell, and the auction was to benefit the western Colorado chapter of the NRHS. Anyone know what will be done with the car now? It looks to be in outstanding shape, and would be a great addition to a lot of museum's collections.

I assume that because of its wooden construction, it would never be "Amtrak compatible", yes? It sure is a work of art.

Denfinately not. The way Amtrak handles cars, it would be reduced to kindling wood in short order. (A freight railroad did exactly that to a wood car donated to Mid-Continent years ago.)
I'm sure it would have to be either trucked, or loaded on to a flatcar for transportation to any new home.
