I hate to do this but since it's kinda close I don't know any other way to get this rumor confirmed or denied........Heard from my uncle that there are plans to move the C&O 2732 to the Virginia Science museum this Saturday I've heard stuff like this before but when i went to Norfolk on Friday I did see a rigging companies trailer on the property, I was hoping they where there for the RF&P office car that is only a few years away from a unfavorable end......... btrue@vt.edu |

This is great news! Supposedly the RF&P car is doomed, as nobody wants it, but the 2-8-4 is stripped of jacketing and asbestos. She's heavily vandalized, but largely intact. This loco is NOTHING like the Lynchburg loco (whose parts might be used to restore 2732). The story I got in Richmond is that once she's at the museum, steps will be taken to restore the rusted cab and return her to cosmetic appearence of being ready to steam. Again, that's what I was told, but take it as a rumor. glueck@maine.edu |

Well I got a bright idea this morning, just went straight to the horses mouth and got the following reply ************************************************* Ben, Good morning. Currently the locomotive is scheduled to be moved 12 April. That date recently changed from 29 March due to the contractor having requirements with the Defense Department. Which is to say the 12 April date may change if necessary. Thank you, Bill ************************************************ btrue@vt.edu |
