Any updates on the status of Dardanelle & Russellville 2-6-0 10? This engine has long been displayed at Shreveport, LA. In the 1980s, it was partly dismantled by a local group that wanted it to run again. This group (Red River something or other) also was to get a former Santa Fe 2-6-2 from Texas. Is this group still active? Have they made any progress? D&R 10 ryarger@rypn.org |

Besides the locomotive[s], they were to acquire the ex-Texas & Pacific railroad station on the west side of downtown Shreveport. On the south side of downtown, by the former Illinois Central depot, the group was storing a GE 60/65-ton switcher, and a pair of ex-DL&W coomuter coaches. The ATSF 2-6-2 is apparently still in storage adjacent the KCS railyard in southwest Shreveport, along with one or two other pieces of RR equipment. I did know that they wanted to run excursions on track which runs [ran] adjacent the riverside casinos on the Arkansas River's west bank, but no further contact has been heard from them since. hi_plain@yahoo.com |
