I picked up a rumor that an Eastern PA steam shortline is planning to convert to push-pull.

According to the rumor, the RR was so impressed by a recent excursion with the Reading FP-7's and a push-pull consist that it will convert it's present steam operation to push-pull diesel.

A source close to the RR said "push-pulls have been in this region for 35 years and are themselves historic operations. We see ourselves interpreting the dynamics of railroading for our patrons."

The RR will convert its current dining and parlor cars to cab cars as these have the electric power to run a control stand. The diesels, including the FP-7's and at least one unidentified ex-PRR E-unit will power from the other end of the train.

The source close to the RR said "this change will bring out railroad into the 20th century."
