At the Western Railway Museum the SN 1005 is starting to look like an Interurban again.

Glen Guerra has been working on the car the last few weeks. The regular shop crew finished the steel frame repairs beffore he got back; so the car will sit straing and level for the first time in many years.

The first thing Glen did was finish installing the outer wood layer on top of the two outter I-beams of the frame. These are big timbers with only one scarf in the full length of the car.

He has also fitted new bottoms to the corner posts and the two door frames in the freight doors. Remember the car is a combine with a freight compartment.

The window frames have been replaced from the sill all the way up to the roof. Along with a mess of digional braces under the windows.

He has milled out the tongue and groove fir for the sub floor in the freight compartment. Later the original oak flooring will be put back down on top of the sub-floor.

The main passenger compartment sub-floor will not be laid quite yet because of all the piping and conduit running around under there. The Shop is restoring the car to the 1930s SN period so they have to remove an assortment of Key System changes from the 1940s Bridge Railway operations.
