Post subject:  Looking for Nevada Northern Railway Equipment

The Nevada Northern Railway Museum has a sizeable portion of the NN Ry equipment from 1906 to 1950 which is great. But we do not have any of the equipment from the 60's, 70's and 80's. During this time the railroad had boxcars, gondolas (in fact a gondola was built on the property as an experiment), and truck trailers all painted and lettered for the Nevada Northern Railway.

My question is how would I start looking for this equipment today? It would be nice to bring some of this equipment home to round out our collection. Any ideas?

In October 1991, Micro-Trains™ released an N-scale model of a 50-foot rib side, single-door boxcar in the Nevada Northern livery (product #25510). Interestingly, the reporting mark was “MISS” (Mississippian Railway) with road number 235. Presuming prototypical accuracy of the model, I suggest that some of the NN rolling stock, specifically the boxcars built in 1980 (road numbers 201-235), may have been sold to the Mississippian Railway.

The Mississippian Railway was purchased by the Itawamba County Development Council in October 1986 and is currently known as the Mississippian Railway Cooperative, Inc. ItÂ’s a 22-mile short line running between Fulton and Amory, Mississippi, interchanging with the BNSF at Amory.

I was unable to find a Web site for this short line, but did unearth their contact information.

Reporting marks: MISS, MSRW

Keith
