For what they spent, there should be some progress!!! Almost 500K for the engine, the power truck and two traction motors ?

The Claremont-Concord Railroad, a shortline based in Claremont, NH owns and operates the facilities where the Flying Yankee is being restored. They now have their own website up and running. See the link below.

They decided not to put in any power unit, but to restore the original, which was in very poor condition, and no replacement parts available. This is a "no holds barred" restoration, and that kind of prototype reproduction work never comes cheap. I think it is a tribute to their tenacity that they have not only spent that kind of money, but raised it!
I wish Portola RR museum could raise that kind of money to properly do WP 805A, as she really needs de-skinning and major frame rebuild/replacement (some section of the frame structure have rusted nearly away), as well as major prime mover repairs. Then there is the wiring. . . .
(
BTW, this only my learned opinion, not any offical stand of the PRM organization.

David,

There is seldom any news here on the Portola Railroad Museum. They are trying to re-assemble
and preserve a California Zephyr train set. A very
comendable project indeed!!

How goes it tith the Dome Car Silver Hostel?
