The real "Horses" were groomed in the paddock this past weekend....they were "Ready To Go"! Its a real shame.

The "horse's mouth" reports that the planned excursions that would have brought the restored PRR E8s to the North Carolina Transportation Museum via Roanoke and Asheville has been cancelled, due to Amtrak's not-very-timely transfer of paperwork to Norfolk Southern. From the front office: Rail Excursions Postponed The North Carolina Transportation Museum, Juniata Terminal Company and Norfolk Southern will be unable to operate planned excursions in North Carolina April 26th and in Virginia April 27th in conjunction with the museumÂ’s 16th Annual Rail Days festival. The sponsoring parties will try and reschedule the Asheville-Spencer and Spencer-Roanoke excursions utilizing Juniata TerminalÂ’s two Pennsylvania Railroad E8Â’s. Norfolk Southern and Juniata Terminal had worked hard to make the trip a success, and all parties are hopeful that this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride behind two of the most beautiful 1950Â’s diesels left in America will reappear in the near future. Those who purchased tickets will receive full refunds. The North CarolinaÂ’s Transportation MuseumÂ’s Annual Rail Days festival will continue as planned, with Norfolk SouthernÂ’s support, on April 26th and 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event showcases the importance of railroads in North Carolina through restored equipment, operating trains, musical entertainment, childrenÂ’s activities and special displays. A planned night photography session April 26th will continue and efforts are underway to locate guest equipment. Transportation Museum is located off Interstate 85 (Exit 79) in Spencer, about halfway between Greensboro and Charlotte, on the site of what was once Southern RailwayÂ’s largest steam locomotive repair facility. The 57-acre site includes three restored buildings, including the Robert Julian Roundhouse, and an on-site train ride. Exhibits include 25 restored locomotives and rail cars, a working turntable, antique automobiles and examples of early, non-motorized transportation. The NCTM, which is administered by the N.C.
