Some years back I inspected a group of caboose that were located in the former PRR yard at Renovo PA. At the time I had a phone number for the owner Art Brummer up in Maine. The number is no longer any good & I understand that the cars have been relocated. I'm trying to locate both the cars & their owner. We had interest in a couple of these but were stalled at the time by the Conrail takeover. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me off this site so as not to clog the informational arterie. Thanx Ron Freitag Vice President & Director of Accessions Danbury Railway Museum Danbury CT USA lbhf1@juno.com |

Feel free to > contact me off this site so as not to clog > the informational arterie. Actually, one of the best ways to preserve ones cardiovascular health is to engage in regular exercise -- I believe that the same principle applies to information resources. While I do not have any specific information on the waycars at Renovo, there are some resources that have (relatively) recent information about the whereabouts of specific cars. Conrail Cabins and Cabooses http://crcaboose.railfan.net/ CONRAIL CABOOSE PHOTO ARCHIVE http://198.30.209.3/CR/CRcab.html Of the two, the former has more information. Moreover, you may wish to contact S. Roger Kirkpatrick, who maintains an extensive database of surviving cabooses. caboose9@charter.net 109 S. Madison St., Cortez, CO 81321 I (and I am sure others as well) would appreciate the posting of additional information on this topic. I believe that these cars are located at the western end of the now-truncated old NYC line from Jersey Shore, PA to Mill Hall and beyond: They are visible from Route 220 and are just west of Avis, PA. I had heard that, originally, they were to have gone to the Happy Acres campground complex located in a northerly direction not far from the Pine Creek Valley recreational area. HTH(hope this helps! prov356@uplink.net |
