Bob: Sure is a nice looking little Mogul but I didn't think she looked much like the ex-D&R #9 at North Freedom. Kind of looked like she might be an ex-Frisco engine so I dug out my STEAM LOCOMOTIVES OF THE FRISCO book by Lloyd E. Stagner and there in the 1899 roster on page 81 is a report that 2-6-0 #345 was sold to the Cassville & Exeter! The locomotive was built in 1892 by Baldwin. Bob: Speaking of Frisco 2-6-0's, what have you ever heard about the one surviving SLSF Mogul? She is an EXTREMELY handsome little engine and is apparently preserved in Arkansas. She came to the Frisco when that road took over the Jonesboro, Lake City & Eastern in the mid-1920's and eventually the SLSF sold her to the Delta Valley & Southern in 1945. She is listed in David Conrads book along with a photo. But I have never heard any comments about her recent condition. This has been a tough one to track down. My understanding is that it is privately owned in Victoria, Arkansas (Dave Conrad says sold to Wesson Farms in 1957), and in reasonable condition. I don't believe the Delta Valley & Southern (out of Wilson, Arkansas)is among today's Arkansas shortlines. Hopefully someone can provide a recent photo and more news.
