I've lost track of all the Steamtown de-acquisitions. Have they disposed of all the F units? To where? http://abpr.railfan.net/abprphoto.cgi?september02/09-29-02/Dsc01660.jpg ryarger@rypn.org |

Here's what I can piece together... Steamtown had three F's upon the NPS takeover... "DL&W 637" was a former MILW (97C I think) unit and was given to the Central New York Chapter of the NRHS. It was the closest to being operationalhaving run in 1987. I'm not sure what the CNY has planned for it, but I saw a unit sounding suspiciously like the 637 on an equipment sales board not too long ago. "Western Maryland 97" was actually former MILW 97C and was also given to the Central New York Chapter, but has since changed hands several times (if I have heard correctly). This unit is still in Scranton, I can see it from my tower window right now. The third unit was a Kansas City Southern unit, the number of which escapes me. It went south to Tennesee with the CNR 5288 4-6-2 in 2001. Hope this helps. Dave Crosby bing@epix.net |
