Post subject: Vulcan Locos at Solvay Process Co *PIC*
PostPosted: Wed Apr 16, 2003 8:01 pm

You may recall my request for info about four Vulcan locos sold to Australia in 1916.
I have had a fantastic response from the Hagley Library (Thanks to Barb Hall and Chris Baer) and now have copies of the specification cards and shop orders for these locos. Unfortunately no photos survive. The attached photo is of one in later days.
The loco record card says that they were to be similar to "Solvay Process Co" and I'm hoping someone out there can identify what that (those?) Solvay locos were. I know the company had several plants and had standard and 24 in gauge locos and that a few are preserved. The Australian locos were 42 in gauge - did solvay have any of that gauge?

Thanks in advance
