Note the paper's description of the 59 year-old arsonist as having led a dull life and being trapped by his anorak. Not having a dictionary handy, what is an anorak? Are we all trapped by one? http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0200wales/page.cfm?objectid=12858007&method=full&siteid=50082&headline=Railway%20enthusiast%20jailed%20for%20setting%20fire%20to%20train ryarger@rypn.org |

Bob, either Tom Clancy or Robert Ludlum started a book off with a reference to anorak so often that it drove me to the dictionary. It's a hooded parka or coat, worn in arctic climates. fitzrr@pioneer.net |

It's a popular belief in Britain that all "trainspotters" (their equivalent of our "foamers", only far more widely known) wear anoraks. In fact sometimes "anorak" is used as a slang term over there to describe trainspotters or anyone else who displays trainspotter-like (nerdy) qualities. rjenkins@railfan.net |
