Post subject:  Historic subway cars broken into, parts stolen

According to the message board at www.nycsubway.org, a thief or thieves broke into the fleet of historic New York subway cars that are stored at Coney Island Yard and stole a large number of artifacts. Most of these cars are owned by a private museum/excursion organization known as the Railway Preservation Corporation, however some of the cars I believe are still owned by New York City Transit Authority itself and are rotated in and out of the New York Transit Museum. The link below is to the original post on the "Subtalk" message board.

Post subject:  Partial list of stolen items

A partial list of items that were stolen from the "museum fleet" of New York subway cars has been posted (link below). They're all railfan items - roll signs, whistles, air gauges.
