Re the May 16th Brief on Woodward to Ankeny Rail Preservation Project (WARRP), I've noted elsewhere info on Union Pacific RR's STB filings to abandon this trackage. Anyone know if/how WARRP is negotiating with UP to preserve the line?

From what I've heard from Mike Enres, the head of the project (and coincidentally, now a UP employee), as I understand it, the line is to be purchased by the communities involved in the project. The website has info on where they plan on getting the purchase money from (although I've been told by another source that some of the funds may be available from the State of Iowa also).
