4449 and 700 to operate June 28-29

The Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation has just issued a press release stating that the two 4-8-4s redident in Portland, OR will participate in teh dedication of a new trail in the city. Both engines will pull passenger trains on short runs along the trail. Tickets are CHEAP! $5 adults, $2 children. They will run all day both days, 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Click on the link.

That's great! Wish I could be there. By the way, have 4449 and 700 ever double headed?

I think the only time the two have doubleheaded under steam was returning from the 1996 Portland Union Station 100th Birthday Railfair. This was a "deadhead" move only. This was the last time both the 4449 and 700 were on display together.

At this time we don't have a confirmed doubleheader for this event. If it happens...and that's a big IF, it would likely be Sunday the 29th.
