As someone who lives close enough to see the news from that area I can only feel sorry that the railroad has to deal with these people. Things in Pennsylvania are run more backward than any state around and in that part of the state they are even worse. The only thing good about the whole thing is they set an example of how not to do things.

Lets hope the Feds get things strightened out.

Huey Jenkins (of dear departed memory - mustn't
speak ill of the dead) paid for heaters in the New
Hope Engine House, so the Diesels could be kept
warm in the winter. In my NH&I days, I found
that it took more than 12 hours for a Baldwin 8
cylinder engine to cool down in freezing weather.
If the temperature dropped below freezing for
more than 12 hours, I just had the loco started
and idled for only 45 mins. every 12 hours until
the global warming got going again. That used a
lot less fuel than letting it idle all the time.
I never thought that it might calm the neighbors,
also!
