Both shots were taken by our photographer, Charles Bryant. 2816 spent about a half hour at this location for pictures, then backed up about a mile and did a great runby over the bridge. What is it that has made the CPR recognize the value of it's steam heritage? Despite the added expenses, CP seems to have embraced the fact that steam is a draw, that they need to cultivate a relationship with their public, and that they are Canada's most historically important transportation concern. The picture of these three locomotives going about their intended operation could well be lesson to Class 1's and museum partnerships all over North America. BNSF and Union Pacific are the only two remaining in the USA that aren't scared of their own heritage. CSX could well afford to rebuild 614, any of the surviving 2-8-4's, or even 1604. NS - well what can one say about NS's current administration's view of their ready steam? CPR deserves alot of recognition and thanks for fixing up the 2816.
