We have a 1937 PCC with bumpers held on by oval-headed bolts which are chromed. Does anyone have a source for these bolts?

Since you didn't specify the actual bolt size, I'll throw you a long shot. My 1951 Ford has chrome capped bumper bolts. Although these are round, I recall seeing other antique autos with oval headed bumper bolts. Perhaps a shopping trip on the web-sites of some of the antique auto restoration sites might reveal a source. One vendor that comes to mind is Dennis Carpenter Ford Reproductions. Happy Hunting!!

Hi,

Yes, I know the ones you are speaking of, and NO, I unfortunitly do not have a direct answer. Two places you might try are the fine folks at the Pennsyvania Trolley museum, or the equally fine folks at the Seashore Trolley Museum.

Should you go with a carriage bolt as some places do, be sure you purchase a high grade/ strength bolt should you ever need to tow the car around. You'd be surprised how quickly the heads could snap off, I know I was !
