Nice restoration of former B&M 44-tonner #119 into as-delivered colors. (one of my first cab rides was in this loco 30+ years ago, when she was in peeling B&M paint) The Claremont-Concord RR also continues the restoration of the Flying Yankee within their shops. Follow the link.

Great job and a nice writeup ... it's nice to know that some folks are not so proud as to allow an ugly, homely GE centercab to pull their trains. As the somewhat embarassed owner of the biggest and ugliest GE centercab running today, I salute them!

Nice job and nice website. Does any of the old Claremont Electric street trackage still exist in Claremont? The Pinsly-era Claremont&Concord used this from the 1950s-80s to serve a paper mill across town. Some years ago, I tried to interest the city in using it for a historic trolley but they weren't interested. Was the track removed, or just paved over?

Hi Bob,

Oh, when I was just a lad I loved to see that old CE trackage. In 1992, I rode in a gondola on a weekend of "last run" trips. In the rain, and much to my then-girlfriends consternation, I just rolled the video camera looking ahead to capture the run. We covered only a mile or so from Electric Junction.

I have not been back in town to look around there since 1997 or so, so I can't confirm. I'll have to ask Scott Whitney. He'll know.

We looked around a few weeks ago to see if we could find any still existing street railway track, active or not, but did not find any. At the Flying Yankee, we were told that none remained. Some had clearly been pulled up but in many places it could be paved over.

Did a bit of digging and found some nice pictures of the Claremont & Concord from 1960. These guys were using GE centercabs before it was cool! ;-) Incidentally, the guy on the footboards is my dad.

This photo from 1960 shows the platform at the Claremont Junction station. The CCRR shops are behind you to the right.
